Two Plainclothes Policemen Pointed Guns at Passersby (Shatin)

Police threatening citizens with loaded guns became normality. Protestors blocked roads in several districts today. At about 5p.m., police officers in private vehicle drove by the junction of Sha Tin Rural Committee Road and Yuen Wo Road, believed to be set up by protestors. At least three plainclothes police officers got off from the vehicle, two of them immediately pulled out their guns to aim at the ten-odd passersby and protestors and shouted, “Go away, all of you”. One other holding baton. A citizen at the scene expressed that the protestors at that time had already dispersed and no one made any attacks. The witness doubted the policemen are being arbitrary to threaten citizens with loaded guns.

“We were told that loaded guns are only used in life threatening situations.But they were not under attack. They did not even consider other (weapons) but pointed loaded guns to citizens.”. The witness further said that the two policemen made no other move after pointing their guns at citizens. They cleared the way for their vehicle and drove away from the scene. Meanwhile, other private cards and buses were still behind the roadblocks.
