Special Tactics Squad break into Tai Po Mega Mall and the residents’ podiums, wave their batons casually, an elderly woman being pepper-sprayed

Nearly 100 residents of Tai Po gathered in the atrium of Tai Po Mega Mall today in response to the “Seven Districts Anti-Police Violence” campaign, chanting slogans, singing and craning origami. Some residents used paper cranes to form the words “RESIST” and “FREE HK” on the ground, the mall security did not stop or show opposing to them. But in the evening, the riot police broke in with guns twice, they once broke in against the orders of their commanding officer, taunted the citizens by calling them cockroach, raising black flag (warning crowds of the use of tear gas) outside the mall, and intercepting youths in black shirts. At around 19:00pm, a police officer shot OC foam to a elderly woman and mistakenly pepper-sprayed another officer, who acted unwell and was taken away. Some teenage girls and boys were taken away after being subdued.

More than 100 riot police officers were arresting people at a podium on the third floor of Block 10, Tai Po Centre, on suspicion of droping bricks at the podium. The Tai Po Centre manager said no one had called the police but thr riot police broke into the private estate area without a search warrant. The security guard made every effort to prevent the police from entering the building. However, because of instruction from higher authority, there was nothing the security could do, and the security guards had tried their last-ditch effort to not allow all the police to enter.
