Riot Police Making Forbidden Changes to His Uniform

A riot police officer was seen to have a cloth badge that reads “I LOVE HK Police” embroidered on to the back of his helmet during a police stop-and-search operation among a gathering crowd outside Mong Kok Police Station after 9 p.m. on 12 October 2019.

The design (the fonts and the colours) of the badge had also been used by violent pro-Beijing and pro-police supporters.

Adding accessories to uniforms constitutes a breach of the Police General Orders.  It is ironic that Secretary for Security John Lee Ka-chiu once said, at a press conference in June, that the police had “no room on their uniforms” to display their identification number.
