Police prohibit a mother from seeking her son and threaten to pepper spray
A larger number of police officers surrounded and arrested civilians in Sham Shui Po district. A mother shouted out her son’s name, and said that she could not find him. However, the police officers at the scene not only did not assist her, they yelled: “Are you trying to obstruct the police from performing our duties?” They then surrounded her. The daughter who accompanied the mother told the police “not to touch my mum”. After some arguing and disturbance an officer in white shirt intervened. He marked down the son’s name, and said he would “help ask around”. But when the mother refused to go away, another officer used a large pepper spray to point to her face at close range, then shouted “your son is not here”.
