Police Arrest, attack and threaten the suspect who is charged with possession of unlicensed gun
Chan Yuk Lung, a 27-year-old maintenance technician, was arrested in his Sha Tin Flat on 17th January. Police uncovered a P80 handgun, 4 magazines and more than 90 rounds of ammunition in his flat during the morning raid. Chan appeared in Sha Tin Magistrates’ Court on later to face charges of possession of arms and ammunition without a licence, but was not required to enter a plea. His lawyer applied for bail on his behalf, but was rejected by acting principal magistrate Ko Wai Hung at the prosecution’s request.
Chan’s lawyer complained that Chan had been beaten up by police officers during detention. The officers threatened to hurt his family if he refused to admit to the crimes.
