The FactWire News Agency made a statement on the 29th of July, claimed that one of their journalists were suspected by the police for making gestures for protesters and assisting a riot when he was covering the scene. The officers let him go after requesting the journalist to show his identity card and press card. The FactWire News Agency explained that the journalist made a gesture that implied him would not enter the MTR station to the protester because there were protesters gathered at Exit A of Sheung Wan MTR station, and intended to wet the staircase of it. Therefore, the protesters asked whether the journalists were going to enter the station, so the journalist involved made a gesture in response, such action was then claimed as gesturing for the protesters and assisting a riot by police officers.
