3 DCs and 3 assistants arrested. a DC violently pushed to ground by plainclothes and cameras blocked

Tonight the police made a series of arrests in Tai Po. Sources indicated that the police had arrested three Tai Po District Councillors, including Dalu Lin Kok-cheung, Man Nim-chi and Yiu Kwan-ho, as well as their assistants. Several other District Councillors have approached Tai Po Police Station for information.

Tai Po District Councillor Au Chun-wah confirmed to the Stand News that Dalu Lin Kok-cheung, Man Nim-chi, Yiu Kwan-ho, and three assistants were arrested this evening. A call was made at Tai Po Tg Kung Hoi (telegram public channel) to assemble at Tai Po Mega Mall Area C at 8pm, subsequently revised to 9pm. At about 9pm, a dozen or so people chanted slogans at the scene. They planned to leave when they noticed the presence of plainclothes officers after 15 minutes of chanting. Man Nim-chi found out a suspected plainclothes officer and therefore he together with other civilians followed and scolded that suspected officer. When they were near the office of Hong Thai Travel, numerous plainclothes officers suddenly appeared, chased after them and made arrests (from Tai Po Tg gp). Police Tactical Unit officers later stopped and searched Dalu Lin Kok-cheung and Yiu Kwan-ho on Tai Wo Road. Au Chun-wah said according to online video footage, Man Nim-chi was subdued in another location by plainclothes officers

Another Tai Po district councillor, Yiu Yeuk-sang, also told us that Dalu Lin Kok-cheung, Man Nim-chi and Yiu Kwan-ho and their three assistants had all been arrested on unknown charges and were currently in Tai Po Police Station. A number of Tai Po District Councillors are now waiting for updates outside the police station.

The police confirmed that some of the protesters gathered again in the area of On Pong Road and Tai Wo Road in Tai Po from about 8pm, and the police carried out dispersion and made arrests after repeatedly warning those present to leave in vain. During the operation, officers arrested 11 men and two women, aged between 15 and 36, on suspicion of unlawful assembly. The case was referred to Tai Po District Crime Unit for follow-up.

The police also said that a large number of protesters gathered in the area of On Tsz Road and On Cheung Road in Tai Po since about 3pm, during which some people threw objects at police officers and blocked the road with miscellaneous objects. The police repeatedly warned those present to leave but some refused to follow, so officers dispersed and arrested them. During the operation, officers arrested five men and four women, aged between 13 and 68, on suspicion of unlawful assembly, obstructing police officer in the due execution of duty and possession of instrument fit for unlawful purpose. The case was referred to Tai Po District Crime Unit for follow-up. In addition, the police found an Octopus card suspected to belong to others on a 24-year-old man. He was arrested on suspicion of theft. The case was referred to Tai Po District Criminal Investigation Team 9 for follow-up.

All arrested persons are being held for investigation.
