2019.10.04 14 Year Old Shot in the Thigh Now Stable; Police Congests Ward Entrance
Conflict broke out in many districts after the announcement of the anti-mask law today. In Yuen Long, a 14 years old male was shot by live round and was sent to Tuen Mun Hospital. A large group of riot police congested the door to the ward the teenager was located. Fortunately, his condition improved from serious to stable.
At 1 AM, surgery had been completed and the patient was transferred to the orthopaedic ward. Accompanied by social workers, his father arrived at the hospital, but only his father could visit the ward.
During the visit, some police entered the ward which greatly worried the social workers that investigation would be carried out without lawyers present. They argued for a while. Lawyers and Yau Nai-Keung, Assistant Yuen Long District Commander (Crime) later arrived. Yau only stayed for a little and left without a word. The father stayed till around 5 AM and left without interviewing.
This incident happened tonight (4th). While civilians were barricading the Castle Peak Road, a plain-clothed officer clashed with civilians and was surrounded which subsequently led to the shooting that injured the teenager’s left thigh and profuse bleeding. Civilians immediately surrounded the police again and threw petrol bomb at him.
