Riot police accused of sexually harassing a Reporter from foreign media
- On 26th January 2020, a protest took place in Mong Kok to pay tribute to the 2016 Mong Kok civil unrest (also known as the “Fishball Revolution”). A group of riot police were there to carry out a dispersal operation. A reporter from NBC TV Network (NBC) has claimed to be sexually harassed by a riot police while on duty. When she requested the police number of the offending officer, she was ignored by the officer and his colleagues, who instead used pepper sprayed in her face.
First aiders had rushed forward and tend to her injuries, but the reporter refused and insisted on her request until the riot officers pushed her towards an area next to the cinema. The reporter was emotionally distressed and showed signs of asthma.
